PURPOSE
LEDT reduces agency liability by better preparing the officer to avoid preventable fleet accidents. LEDT also enhances the confidence level and awareness of the driver and promotes better decision making.
LEDT will also help promote proper vehicle maintenance which equates to more miles between tire and brake replacements. Once the student sees just how important these issues are, the more likely they will focus more attention in these areas.

- Pursuit Driving
For the agencies that operate SUVs that are not pursuit rated we urge that you send these vehicles to the training course. Even if department policy dictates that these vehicles do not engage in pursuits they are still likely to be operated in an emergency response situation. The drivers of these vehicles need to experience first hand how these vehicles are capable of performing.
